On the Road again

white truckSymsoil’s  Motor Pool is growing –  In addition to the new tractor, and Mikey (our first compost turner), we have rented a second truck.  Thank you to all of our investors and others who have supported the company in getting us to this point.  We now have two full-capability heavy duty trucks for hauling materials, equipment and people around our ever-expanding universe.

First job for new rolling stock will be to transfer remaining greenhouse tools and materials from a greenhouse in Palo Alto to Suisun Valley Site.  The second is scheduled move of Batch One from its storage location in Sonoma County to our new location.

The second truck will be used primarily in the Suisun Valley location, but will be used to move materials for customers from Mendocino to Salinas.   Probably TMI, but we’re thrilled:  The new truck can  will hold about 2 cubic yards (level with the rails), and the total capacity is about 2500 lbs (also about 2 cy).  The towing capacity is 18,000 lbs.

In terms of overall company productivity, it is far more efficient with a heavier load than a lighter one,  we can now internally handle deliveries up to 10 yards.
